Sovereignty And Choice

Posted by David Puffer on Monday, June 26, 2017,
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.   John 15:16

This passage has been the source of heated debate for many centuries – A debate that involves such things as the goodness of God, the omnipotence of God, that the origin of evil.

And does God’s sovereignty cancel out man’s free will?  Is man predestined by God -  some to salvation and others to damnation?

The Man With The Inkhorn

1 Pet 3:18-22 declares that.“… Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering  waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (...

God Our Father

WHO IS GOD?  Is He an abstract three-letter word that invokes a response of fear and respect mixed with a dash of resentment?

Certainly there are many people who see Him that way.

To those who don’t know Him, He is a stern judge who demands obedience and threatens hell to those who don’t bow to His every whim.

Open to John 21:15-19 – This is the record of Christ’s third appearance after His death.

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"  "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."  Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."  Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."  The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, ...

”And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”  Mark 16:15-18

If God BeFore Us

Posted by David Puffer on Monday, June 5, 2017,
Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

There is a battle for the souls of men and without God the battle would be lost.

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."   Psalm 14:1

They insist that the only sense in the universe is what man gives it.

They are the authors of situation ethics  -  they preach tha...
